Youth Olympic Games 2010 Opening Ceremony

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Today, 14th of August, marked a special day for Singapore, the Youth Olympic Games 2010. I am now watching the live telecast of the opening ceremony of the YOG 2010.

Opening Ceremony of Youth Olympic Games 2010 (YOG) in Singapore

Wow, so many spectators from all over the world joining in the event

It's the FIRST official games held in Singapore and I am sure almost all the people in Singapore will be watching the ceremony. If I'm not wrong, there will be 204 countries around the world with 3600 young olympians participating in the Youth Olympic Games 2010. Everyone is getting excited over the Youth Olympic Games, including me.

I found that the opening ceremony focus more on music performance, like singing and dancing plus many performers are youths and children. Actually, I hardly watch sports events but to support the YOG which is first held in Singapore, I might watch the games.

Lots of fireworks to be seen during the opening ceremony but what I enjoyed most is the special effects during the first part of the performance and the story of the boxing champion.

Very beautiful fireworks!

The word 'WELCOME'

Singapore's flag raising and national anthem.

I like this segment best.

Speech time...

Olympic FLAG raising!!!

4th torch bearer in torch relay.

Lighthouse being lighted up for the next 12 days...

Overall, the opening ceremony is a success. I wonder if it's possible to view the lighthouse for the next 12 days outside The Float from far, as I guess no outsiders is allowed to go into the platform.
