Go 'Alive'

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

I went for the 'Alive Gallery' exhibition last Saturday. I reached there quite late but managed to view the exhibits within 2 hours, at a fast pace. I was somehow attracted to the exhibition because it was stated as a Southeast Asia premiere where paintings come alive. It was an art exhibition on paintings and the history behind the paintings. I'd gained some knowledge about art paintings and their history through the exhibition.

I got to know the types of art techniques like fresco, sfumato, watercolour...etc. From what I remembered, I saw paintings of 'The Wedding of the Virgin' and animation painting of 'The School of Athens' by Raffaello Sanzio, 'The Birth of Venus' by Sandro Botticelli and a 3D animation of the 4 statues on Greek gods, Apollo, Nike, Venus and Hermes. There are lots of others paintings too but these paintings gave me a very deep impression on it. There's also a 3D animation on Leonardo da Vinci's painting, 'Mona Lisa'. The interesting part is that the 'Mona Lisa' in the painting can actually answer you if you asked her any questions. I was watching the kids asking her many funny questions and I saw 'Mona Lisa' roll her eyes and moves her arms!!! I wondered if there's was someone behind the wall, even though the kids did asked her this question.

Too bad, no photography is allowed in the gallery. However, there were 2 designed photo taking spots allowed. They were 'Avenue at Middelharnis' by Meindert Hobbema and 'Cafe Terrace at Night' by Vincent Van Gogh.

It was a great experience for visiting the Alive Gallery and I wished I went there earlier, so that I can take my time to view the gallery. I was already satisfied anyway because I had visited the exhibition.
